Mike Evans is a guitarist and composer from Cincinnati, OH where he works from his home studio. With a background in guitar, audio production, and orchestral music, and a degree in Commercial Music Production from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, his music has been heard on NBC, ESPN Radio, Bravo, and in several short films.
Starting out singing in school choirs in Fairborn, OH, Mike then started playing trumpet in the school band in 5th grade until at age 15 he began playing guitar. After spending the last few years of high school playing in a rock band at local music venues and school related events, Mike spent a year in Argentina as an exchange student where he sat in with local bands playing blues and rock while also experiencing and learning about tango music and culture.
After returning, Mike spent two years at Yavapai College in Arizona where he studied music theory and played timpani in the orchestra. After that Mike lived in California where some of his compositions for string quartet were played by the Classical Revolution in bars and coffee shops in San Francisco.
Finally, Mike then returned to Ohio where he started a music degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. There he studied jazz guitar, theory and composition, sound reinforcement, audio production and entrepreneurship and played in a Rock/Jazz fusion band named Hamilton.
Since graduating, he’s been living and working in Cincinnati writing for music libraries and local clients. Mike also teaches privately and performs locally.
