Composer, Producer, & Multi-Instrumentalist

Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mike Evans is a versatile composer and producer. With a background that spans the raw energy of rock stages as a lead guitarist and singer as age 15, to a musical degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (UC-CCM), Mike brings a unique, multi-faceted perspective to every project. Whether scoring for a short film, a radio spot, or a global music library, Mike approaches his work with a singular goal: to find the perfect musical language for the story at hand.

Mike’s musical foundation was built early, influenced by a family of music lovers including a father who loved classical music and a brother who played drums in the Dayton rock scene. Starting on the trumpet and in school choirs, he eventually found his primary voice at fifteen when he picked up the guitar. Those formative years were spent learning by ear and performing everywhere from school gymnasiums to local bars. This “on the ground” experience was later enriched by a transformative year in Argentina, where he immersed himself in the rhythms of Tango and the Castellano language, and sat in with local bands in clubs in the Patagonia. This trip was followed by a journey that took him from Vienna, Austria to the varied musical tapestries of Boston, Prescott, and San Francisco.

At UC-CCM, Mike formalized his expertise, emphasizing composition, jazz theory, audio engineering, and production. This academic journey, paired with his real-world experience as a performer and songwriter, allows him to move fluidly between genres—from soaring orchestral arrangements to gritty, guitar-driven tracks and contemporary electronic production. His studio is a space of constant collaboration; Mike works closely with local artists to produce their records while simultaneously partnering with musicians and composers across the globe on diverse audio projects.

Today, Mike balances his time between writing at his home studio and sharing his knowledge as an instructor in guitar, piano, and audio production. He views music as a collaborative service, dedicated to providing media producers and directors with high-quality, emotionally resonant scores that elevate their vision.
